Why do people list plays as Game of the Year?

Search
Dumbest thing I have ever heard. We all know the Rx-Maniac is a perennial loser with these labeled plays but I see other people now all of the time saying this crap. It's no shocker a majority of them lose.

J2,How can someone know it will be the game of the year.May be a better one the next day.

j2, this is the second time u have made apoint to bash me for using that term, have u noticed me doing it alot? no
have u ever noticed me doing it before? no

that game yesterday, imo, was the best line i have liked all year, that is why i said that...i didnt know it was gonna effect your life so much....and as it turned out, it lost, so you can be happy in the knowledge that i lost my money on it...

that should make your day..

Exactly.

Bucsfan:

You are not the only one who uses it. It is more common in the forums now then it ever was before. This thread was not directed towards you, although I don't know why one would use such a term.

WELL I FIGURED IT WAS, CUZ YOU CAME IN RIGHT BEHIND ME INT HE RR THREAD AND SAID THE SAME THING.....I DIDNT REALIZE I WAS GONNA CAUSE SUCH A STIR....IT WASNT INTENTIONAL

There is no such thing as a "game of the year" and serious educated bettors don't use that term. I wish I had a quarter for every posted play of the year that crashed and burned. Unless you have inside info, grabbed a outrageous, and bought off the best player there is no such thing.
This is not a slam to ANYONE but LOCKS and GOY is a saying touts, dreamers, and wannabes use, NOT gamblers that are serious about making money.

I once read in the Rx that at the age of 20 it's the GOY. At 30 it's a great play. At 40 it's a play.

re:game of year.

when first started giving out selections i had a "game of year" myself. the first three won easily. then by the time people started figuring i knew a little bit about it and jumping on board - i got whacked. very embarassing. we've all seen plays that jump out at us and look almost too easy, and occasionally they are. but scratching out winning five units by saturday, then risking all five on "game of year" on sunday is suicidal (see, even bb learns!). i prefer just saying "this is strongest play of season to this point" and that gives guys option of stepping up. looking at bright side is at least i never had a dozen "games of the year"!

Raiders - good stuff, still smiling over it.

J2 - your thread is right on the money. I wondered the same thing when I saw that pinhead do it the other day. Silly to label it GOY unless you are a tout.

I've never advertised a "game of the year," but every year I have one in the NFL. There's always that one, rare game that jumps out at you, and you wonder what the hell the oddsmakers are thinking. I had a bad feeling about that Arizona game, though, it did seem too good to be true. Last NFL season I lost my play of the year, even though I won, because SIA deleted my account after I won. I am the biggest loser EVER. lol.

I need to find my thread about this a couple of months ago, it is unbelievable how low the % is of these GOy's actually hitting.

FOr those that read the Bible:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyrannies of evil men.
Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost gamblers.

And I will strike down upon thee with great fury and furious anger those who post GOY's, GOC, GOM, or any other brash picks that attempt to poison and disturb my brother.

And you will Know my name is the Lord when I lay my Vengeance upon thee.

-Ezekiel 25:17
